…This Wheels on Fire.
Remember the opening song for AbFab?
I never knew it but that song “This Wheels of Fire” is one of those songs that was covered by dozens of people including Bob Dylan and Siouxsie and the Banshees. This version’s my favorite, and it even has a tripped out video. I can totally picture Eddie and Patsy dancing along.

It was written by Bob Dylan… and Rick Danko.
Rick was bass-player for The Band… and quite possibly the COOLest-looking rock musician you’ve never heard of.
He put together a solo album when The Band was breaking up/ doing The Last Waltz.
There’s a clip in Scorcese’s movie of him in the studio making it.
He plays back a track (I believe it’s “Sip The Wine)” and gets this huge look of bliss on his face.
It’s actually a pretty good album.
Rick died of heart failure in 1999. Too many years o’ too many drugs.
1999 was not a good year for the hearts of people who played on Rick’s solo album.
Doug Sahm died the same year, from more or less the same thing.
fwiw, there’s a clip in the movie Festival Express of Rick teaching “Ain’t No More Cane” to Jerry Garcia, and Rick is about as drunk as I’ve seen a human get.
Yeah, Ab Fab was cool.
